Description

Surprise! Something completely different than what I usually post. Traditional piece and real creature. o.o XD

I can't always do a usual giraffe. I have to be different. :iconbell8dplz:

This is an older piece that is one of the oil pastel drawings that I did during a summer camp at San Diego Zoo. I and my mother went down to the Zoo to take this class together for several years because it was very enjoyable. In this class we learned how to use oil pastels to draw animals. Each class had an focus from arctic animals to felines to baby animals. Joe (our teacher) would take a group of 30 people ages 8 and up all around the Zoo to draw the animals in the exhibits. He provided the pastels (oil pastels and chalk), show us how to use the pastels, send us off to work on our own, and then helped us individually. It was nice to have my mom along for several reasons, including proving to my mom that she CAN draw. I get so frustrated at people that say they can't draw as they can even if they can't draw well. To say the least I was smug when my mom got an offer to buy one of her pieces. >D

It was really fun, and I owe Joe sooo much for teaching me anatomy tips as well as getting me to adore other's art as well as your own. Alas, this class isn't taught anymore by Joe as he recently retired, but I would recommend for those who are in Southern California to at least try it. :meow:

I'm selling prints of these if anybody wants one. D: It'll probably be about $7 and that includes shipping within the US. I will have to figure out mailing to other places on a case-by-case basis. ^^;
